Join our team at Atlas Appliances, providing appliance sales and service for many decades in Calgary. We are committed to excellence in all aspects of our operations and are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to support our financial management processes.
As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments using accounting software.
2. Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
3. Track accounts receivable, and follow up on overdue payments.
4. Process accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices, obtaining approvals, and issuing payments in a timely manner.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor and customer records, including contact information and payment terms.
6. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparation of financial reports and statements.
7. Conduct periodic audits of financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
8. Collaborate with the owners to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance internal controls.
**Qualifications:**
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reconcile complex accounts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements is preferred.
Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
